Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency calls, dispatching appropriate police units to incidents
- Operate radio systems and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software efficiently
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation of all communications and actions
- Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers during medical emergencies
- Coordinate with other emergency services (fire, EMS) during multi-agency responses
- Remain calm and professional under high-stress, fast-paced conditions
- Participate in ongoing training to enhance emergency response protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid Tennessee driver's license
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check and drug screening
- Strong typing skills (minimum 40 WPM)
- Excellent verbal communication and active listening abilities
- Ability to multitask and make critical decisions under pressure
- Basic computer proficiency with willingness to learn specialized systems
