Responsibilities
- Execute manual labor tasks including excavation, grading, and backfilling for municipal projects
- Operate heavy machinery (excavators, rollers, forklifts) with precision and safety
- Perform road maintenance, drainage system repairs, and park facility upkeep
- Adhere to OSHA standards and city safety protocols at all times
- Assist in traffic control and infrastructure inspections
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and perform basic preventive maintenance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on complex public works initiatives
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable public works or construction labor experience
- Valid Class C California Driver's License with clean driving record
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Proficiency in operating heavy machinery (excavator, backhoe, dump truck)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly and work in extreme weather conditions
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Basic knowledge of blueprint reading and safety regulations
- High school diploma or equivalent required
