Responsibilities
- Monitor and Analyze: Continuously monitor network traffic and security systems using SIEM tools to identify and mitigate potential threats in real-time.
- Incident Response: Lead the investigation and remediation of security breaches, ensuring rapid recovery and minimal operational impact.
- Compliance & Audits: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (including HIPAA and state data privacy laws) through regular security audits and risk assessments.
- Access Management: Manage user access controls and privileges, ensuring the principle of least privilege is strictly enforced across all county systems.
- Vulnerability Management: Conduct regular vulnerability scans and penetration testing to identify weaknesses in our network architecture and software applications.
- Policy Development: Assist in the development, updating, and communication of cybersecurity policies and best practices to county staff.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Certifications: Active CISSP, Security+, or GSEC certification is required; CCSP or CEH preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in information security, network administration, or a related IT discipline.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), endpoint protection, and scripting languages (Python or PowerShell).
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to risk management and crisis resolution.
