Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze network traffic to detect, identify, and respond to cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.
- Implement and manage security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption protocols.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and security audits to ensure compliance with FISMA, NIST, and agency-specific security policies.
- Respond to and mitigate security incidents, providing timely technical support and incident reports to stakeholders.
- Configure and maintain security tools and software to safeguard federal information systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security best practices into the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff and operational units on security awareness and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, or a related technical field (or equivalent military experience).
- Active Top Secret security clearance (or the ability to obtain one) with favorable adjudication.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cybersecurity, network defense, or information assurance.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Strong understanding of network architecture, operating systems (Windows/Linux), and cloud security (AWS/Azure).
- Certifications such as CISSP, Security+, CEH, or GSEC are highly preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for briefing senior leadership.
