Responsibilities
- Maintain and Monitor: Oversee the daily operations of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and internet systems to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, and network issues for City staff and the public.
- Security Management: Implement and monitor cybersecurity protocols, ensuring compliance with state and federal data protection standards.
- System Administration: Configure, install, and maintain servers, firewalls, and peripherals, including desktop and mobile devices.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including network diagrams and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Project Support: Assist in the planning and execution of IT upgrades and digital transformation projects.
- Support Services: Provide expert technical support and training to non-technical staff regarding office software and hardware usage.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in network administration, IT support, or a related field.
- Certifications: Preferred: CompTIA Network+, Security+, CCNA, or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in configuring Windows and Linux operating systems, Active Directory, and cloud-based solutions (e.g., Azure, AWS).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to identifying potential system failures.
- Licensure: Valid California driver’s license may be required for travel between departmental locations.
