Responsibilities
- Manage Network Infrastructure: Oversee the day-to-day operations of local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Troubleshoot Systems: Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues to minimize downtime for staff and patients.
- Ensure Data Security: Implement and monitor security protocols to protect sensitive federal information in compliance with VA and federal standards.
- System Administration: Configure and maintain servers, firewalls, and virtualization environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Provide Technical Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for technical inquiries and provide training to end-users on new systems and software.
- Project Management: Assist in the planning and execution of IT upgrades and system migrations.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of system configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Clearance: Secret Security Clearance is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in IT system administration or network engineering.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Windows Server, Active Directory, Cisco networking, and virtualization technologies.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a focus on quality and attention to detail.
