Role Overview

As an IT Specialist (INFOSEC), you will design, implement, and maintain information security programs. You will work closely with network engineers and system administrators to identify vulnerabilities and mitigate risks associated with classified and unclassified data.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the agency's information security program, ensuring compliance with NIST 800-53 and DODI 8500.01 standards.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, risk analyses, and security audits to identify potential threats to the network infrastructure.
  • Manage and process personnel security clearances, including background investigations and suitability determinations for government employees and contractors.
  • Develop and update incident response plans, conducting training exercises to ensure readiness for potential cyber-attacks.
  • Collaborate with IT staff to troubleshoot security-related hardware and software issues and apply necessary patches and updates.
  • Prepare and submit security documentation and reports to senior leadership and oversight agencies.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; OR a combination of education and specialized experience totaling 4 years.
  • Clearance: Active Secret security clearance is required; ability to obtain Top Secret eligibility.
  • Experience: At least 4 years of specialized experience in information systems security, network security, or related field.
  • Certifications: Possession of a current CISSP, Security+, or GSEC certification is highly preferred.
