Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the city's server infrastructure, including Windows and Linux environments, ensuring 99.9% uptime for essential services.
- Implement and monitor advanced cybersecurity protocols to protect sensitive citizen data and municipal systems from external threats.
- Configure and troubleshoot complex network hardware and software, including firewalls, routers, and switches.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deploy scalable IT solutions that enhance operational efficiency.
- Conduct regular system audits and performance tuning to identify vulnerabilities and optimize system performance.
- Provide technical support and mentorship to junior IT staff and non-technical departments.
- Ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local government IT standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience in a government setting).
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in systems administration, network engineering, or IT support.
- Valid certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA, or similar are highly preferred.
- Proven experience with virtualization technologies (VMware/Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Windows Server, and Linux administration.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues under pressure.
- Ability to obtain a government security clearance (if applicable) and pass a background investigation.
