Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the city's local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) infrastructure, ensuring 99.9% uptime.
- Implement and monitor security protocols to protect sensitive government data against cyber threats.
- Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues across various city departments.
- Collaborate with vendors and contractors to upgrade legacy systems and integrate modern cloud solutions.
- Conduct regular system audits and performance assessments to identify areas for optimization.
- Document technical processes and create user guides for city staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT systems administration or network engineering.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator are highly preferred.
- Deep understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, and virtualization technologies.
- Strong knowledge of government compliance standards and data privacy regulations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical staff.
