Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on city parks, playgrounds, and athletic fields
- Operate light/heavy machinery (mowers, tractors, snow removal equipment)
- Conduct facility inspections and report maintenance needs
- Assist with stormwater management and drainage system upkeep
- Support public works projects including sidewalk repairs and landscaping
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and city protocols
- Respond to citizen service requests within 24 hours
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid North Carolina driver's license (Class B preferred)
- 2+ years of maintenance or landscaping experience
- Certification in equipment operation (e.g., Bobcat, forklift)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work outdoors in all weather
- Basic knowledge of construction safety protocols
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Clean background check and drug-free workplace compliance
