Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspection, maintenance, and repair of public infrastructure, including roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems.
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery and equipment, such as dump trucks, graders, and jackhammers, ensuring all safety protocols are followed.
- Respond to emergency service requests and public complaints regarding city infrastructure promptly and professionally.
- Ensure all work sites are clean, organized, and free from hazards to maintain a safe environment for the public and fellow employees.
- Collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, inspectors, and other municipal workers to complete large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Monitor and manage inventory of tools, materials, and supplies to ensure efficient project execution.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations regarding environmental protection and workplace safety (OSHA).
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid Tennessee Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred but not required for all positions; relevant trade school certification is a plus.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in general maintenance, construction, or public works is strongly preferred.
- Ability to lift, carry, and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to follow complex instructions.
- Excellent communication skills and a commitment to customer service excellence.
