Responsibilities
- Park and Facility Maintenance: Perform routine landscaping, mowing, trash removal, and facility upkeep at city parks and public buildings to ensure a pristine environment for citizens.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate and maintain landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, and heavy machinery, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Infrastructure Repair: Assist in the repair and maintenance of sidewalks, curbs, and public fixtures, identifying issues that require professional attention.
- Snow and Ice Removal: Execute snow removal and ice control operations during inclement weather to ensure public safety and accessibility.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA safety standards, wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and report hazardous conditions immediately.
- Community Service: Engage with the public in a professional manner and respond to service requests regarding city infrastructure and grounds.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Licensure: Valid Texas Class C Driverβs License is mandatory; a CDL is preferred but not always required depending on the specific department.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform heavy physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Experience: Previous experience in general maintenance, landscaping, or construction is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of hand and power tools, and familiarity with landscaping equipment.
- Background Check: Must successfully pass a background investigation and drug screen as part of the hiring process.
