Role Overview:
As a Municipal Maintenance Worker, you will be responsible for the upkeep of public spaces, including parks, playgrounds, and recreational facilities. You will operate heavy machinery, perform landscaping tasks, and ensure all facilities meet safety and aesthetic standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of park infrastructure, including pathways, fences, benches, and playground equipment.
- Operate and maintain landscaping equipment, such as lawn mowers, trimmers, tractors, and snow removal vehicles.
- Assist in the planting, watering, and general care of trees, flowers, and turf to ensure vibrant park aesthetics.
- Ensure strict compliance with OSHA safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and hazard reporting.
- Conduct daily inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs and report anomalies to supervisors.
- Collaborate with a diverse team to execute large-scale projects, including park renovations and community events setup.
- Manage inventory of tools and supplies, ensuring all equipment is clean, serviced, and stored correctly.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid New York State Class B Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or facility upkeep.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery (e.g., backhoes, forklifts, tractors) is a strong plus.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to public service and community engagement.
- Basic knowledge of safety protocols and equipment maintenance.
