Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on city facilities, parks, and public infrastructure
- Operate heavy machinery including trucks, tractors, and specialized equipment
- Respond to emergency repairs during weather events and public safety incidents
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on urban beautification projects
- Document work activities and maintain accurate equipment logs
- Participate in disaster preparedness and community outreach initiatives
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational certification preferred
- 2+ years of experience in municipal maintenance or public works
- Valid California Class C Driver's License (Class B required within 6 months)
- OSHA 10 certification or willingness to obtain
- Proficiency with hand/power tools and diagnostic equipment
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in varying weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Basic computer literacy for reporting systems
