Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and repair of municipal facilities, parks, and public infrastructure.
- Operate heavy equipment such as dump trucks, backhoes, and pavement breakers safely and efficiently.
- Assist with snow removal and ice control operations during severe weather events.
- Respond to citizen inquiries and service requests regarding public works issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all OSHA safety regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections of streets, drainage systems, and public grounds.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical trade school certification is a plus.
- Valid Virginia Class C Driver’s License with a good driving record.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools, and heavy machinery operations.
- Strong commitment to public service and community safety.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
