Responsibilities
- Maintenance Operations: Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and repair of city streets, sidewalks, alleys, and public parks to ensure a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment.
- Machinery Operation: Safely operate and maintain heavy equipment, including street sweepers, backhoes, and dump trucks.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergency maintenance requests, including pothole repairs and utility damage, during inclement weather or unplanned events.
- Inspection & Reporting: Conduct visual inspections of public infrastructure to identify safety hazards, code violations, or areas requiring attention.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and report on the condition of tools, equipment, and materials to ensure readiness for daily operations.
- Community Engagement: Interact with residents and business owners professionally to address concerns and provide information regarding city services.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Licensure: Valid California Class C Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of general labor or maintenance experience preferred; military experience is a plus.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly, work in various weather conditions, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
- Skills: Basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Background: Must pass a background check and drug screening prior to employment.
