Responsibilities
- Operate heavy-duty refuse collection vehicles and equipment safely and efficiently to collect garbage and recycling.
- Perform manual labor tasks including lifting, carrying, and sorting heavy waste materials.
- Inspect and maintain sanitation vehicles, reporting mechanical issues immediately to supervisors.
- Clear snow and ice from designated streets and intersections during winter operations.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety protocols, and municipal guidelines while performing duties.
- Interact professionally with the public and other city employees.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driverβs License (CDL) is preferred but not required for all positions.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, drug screening, and physical examination.
- Physical ability to perform heavy manual labor, including lifting 50+ pounds repeatedly.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions.
