Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repair tasks on city streets, sidewalks, and public parks to ensure a safe environment for residents.
- Sanitation Services: Assist in the collection and disposal of waste, recyclables, and bulk items, adhering to city sanitation schedules and protocols.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate light to medium-duty machinery, including dump trucks, front-end loaders, and snow removal equipment.
- Snow and Ice Management: Respond quickly to winter weather conditions to clear snow and ice from roads and public walkways during storm events.
- General Labor: Execute various manual labor tasks including landscaping, graffiti removal, and facility maintenance as assigned.
- Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to all OSHA safety standards and municipal regulations while performing duties.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; technical certifications in mechanics or public works are a plus.
- Experience: Previous experience in municipal, construction, or landscaping is highly preferred.
- Licensing: Valid Class C Michigan Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform heavy physical labor in all weather conditions; must pass a pre-employment physical.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of hand and power tools; ability to read blueprints or basic maps.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with the public and fellow employees.
