Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance of city roads, sidewalks, and parks
- Operate heavy machinery including trucks, loaders, and snow removal equipment
- Respond to emergency public works incidents (e.g., weather damage, utility breaks)
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams for infrastructure projects
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with OSHA standards
- Assist in waste management and sanitation operations
- Document work activities and maintain equipment logs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Michigan driver's license with clean record
- Minimum 1 year experience in public works or construction
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Certification in equipment operation (CDL preferred)
- Basic knowledge of municipal infrastructure systems
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to work flexible shifts including nights/weekends
