Responsibilities
- Maintain city sidewalks, streets, and public grounds through routine inspections and repairs
- Operate heavy machinery (e.g., sweepers, graders) for infrastructure maintenance
- Coordinate snow removal and ice control during winter weather events
- Respond to public service requests regarding infrastructure issues
- Collaborate with engineering teams for infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and municipal safety regulations
- Document maintenance activities and submit progress reports
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Illinois Commercial Driver's License (Class B)
- Minimum 2 years experience in municipal maintenance or construction
- Certification in heavy equipment operation preferred
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Pass background check and physical fitness assessment
- Basic knowledge of Chicago municipal infrastructure systems
