Responsibilities
- Operate heavy sanitation vehicles, including trucks and sweepers, safely and efficiently.
- Perform manual labor tasks such as street sweeping, snow removal, and trash collection.
- Maintain public parks, playgrounds, and infrastructure to high standards.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and city safety regulations while on duty.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and the public to address neighborhood concerns.
- Participate in emergency response initiatives during severe weather events.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required.
- Valid New York State Driver's License (Class B or equivalent) preferred.
- Ability to pass a mandatory medical and physical examination.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident eligible for citizenship.
- Must meet the NYC residency requirement (typically within 6 months of appointment).
- Experience with heavy machinery or public works is a plus but not required.
