Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and maintain facility security during overnight hours
- Conduct regular patrols and headcounts to prevent contraband and safety hazards
- Respond to emergencies, medical incidents, and behavioral crises with de-escalation techniques
- Enforce facility rules and document incidents with precise report writing
- Collaborate with healthcare and mental health professionals for inmate welfare
- Operate security systems including CCTV, alarms, and access control
- Participate in emergency response drills and crisis management protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid California Driver's License
- Ability to pass rigorous background check and polygraph examination
- Physical fitness to meet correctional standards (lifting 50+ lbs, running, etc.)
- Completion of POST-certified Basic Academy training or willingness to attend
- Experience in security, military, or law enforcement preferred
- Strong conflict resolution skills and crisis management abilities
- Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays
