Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and conduct regular security checks during overnight hours
- Enforce facility rules and respond to incidents with appropriate de-escalation techniques
- Document security logs and incident reports with precision and timeliness
- Conduct headcounts and perimeter checks to maintain institutional security
- Operate communication systems and coordinate with day-shift staff for seamless operations
- Respond to emergencies and medical situations following protocol
- Maintain accurate records of all security-related activities
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Tennessee Correctional Officer certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Valid driver's license with clean record
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and physical fitness assessment
- Strong observational skills and ability to remain alert during overnight hours
- Experience in security, law enforcement, or military preferred
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure
- Basic computer literacy for report documentation
