Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and maintain security protocols during overnight shifts
- Conduct regular perimeter checks and facility inspections to prevent contraband
- Respond to emergencies, altercations, and medical incidents with de-escalation techniques
- Document incidents, patrol logs, and disciplinary reports using digital systems
- Coordinate with law enforcement agencies during critical incidents
- Operate security systems including CCTV, access controls, and alarm monitoring
- Mentor junior officers and enforce departmental standards consistently
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship and Massachusetts residency required
- High school diploma or GED equivalent with 2 years security/law enforcement experience
- Valid Massachusetts driver's license and clean driving record
- Pass comprehensive background check, physical fitness test, and psychological evaluation
- Must complete MDOC Correctional Officer Academy certification
- Strong conflict resolution skills and crisis management abilities
- Ability to work rotating shifts and stand for extended periods
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and security monitoring systems
