Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce facility regulations during overnight shifts
- Conduct regular security patrols and headcounts to maintain order
- Respond to emergencies, medical incidents, and security breaches with tactical precision
- Document all incidents, observations, and shift activities in official reports
- Screen visitors and packages to prevent contraband entry
- Operate electronic surveillance systems and access control equipment
- Collaborate with day shift teams for seamless transition of critical information
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Virginia driver's license with clean record
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check and polygraph examination
- Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
- Experience in law enforcement, corrections, or military service preferred
- Ability to remain alert and decisive during high-pressure overnight scenarios
- Physical stamina to stand/walk for extended periods and respond to emergencies
- Proficiency in digital reporting systems and surveillance technology
