Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce facility regulations during overnight shifts
- Conduct regular security patrols and headcounts to prevent contraband and escapes
- Respond to emergencies, disturbances, and medical incidents with tactical precision
- Maintain detailed incident reports and documentation using digital systems
- Screen visitors and packages according to department protocols
- Operate security equipment including CCTV, metal detectors, and communication systems
- Coordinate with day-shift staff for seamless transition of critical information
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Indiana Driver's License with clean record
- Ability to pass comprehensive background investigation and polygraph examination
- Must be 21 years of age or older at time of hire
- Successfully complete 80-hour correctional officer training academy
- Physical fitness to meet defensive tactics and restraint certification standards
- Ability to work rotating schedules including weekends and holidays
- Experience in security, military, or law enforcement preferred
