Responsibilities
- Process and adjudicate pension benefit claims and inquiries received during the night shift.
- Verify eligibility for retirement benefits using state and federal guidelines.
- Ensure the accuracy and confidentiality of all sensitive employee and retiree data.
- Reconcile pension account balances and prepare nightly financial reports.
- Communicate with retirees via phone and email to resolve complex benefit questions.
- Maintain strict adherence to ERISA and state retirement compliance standards.
- Collaborate with the day-shift team to ensure seamless operational continuity.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Public Administration preferred.
- Previous experience in pension administration, benefits processing, or a related government role is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with government retirement systems and compliance regulations.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to detect errors in data entry and documentation.
- Must be willing and able to work rotating night shifts (6:00 PM - 2:00 AM or similar).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and department-specific database software.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle high volumes of inquiries.
