Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency calls during night shifts, dispatching appropriate police/fire/medical units
- Maintain detailed call logs using CAD systems while adhering to strict protocols
- Provide critical pre-arrival instructions to callers during medical emergencies
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during complex nighttime incidents
- Monitor surveillance systems and alarm systems for city facilities
- Document incident reports with precise details and legal compliance
- Participate in continuous training to maintain certification standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with 2 years customer service or dispatch experience
- Valid California POST Public Safety Dispatcher certification
- Typing speed minimum 40 WPM with 95% accuracy
- Ability to pass comprehensive background investigation and psychological evaluation
- Proficiency in CAD systems (e.g., Motorola, Hexagon)
- Fluency in English and Spanish (bilingual candidates strongly preferred)
- Ability to work rotating night shifts with variable schedules
- CPR and First Aid certification (or obtain within 30 days of hire)
