Responsibilities
- Perform daily maintenance of park grounds including mowing, pruning, litter removal, and irrigation management
- Operate and maintain park equipment (mowers, trimmers, hand tools) safely and efficiently
- Assist with facility setup/teardown for events, sports leagues, and community programs
- Monitor park conditions and report safety hazards, vandalism, or maintenance needs
- Interact professionally with park visitors providing information and assistance
- Support seasonal projects including tree planting, garden bed preparation, and trail maintenance
- Collaborate with team members on operational priorities and special initiatives
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant certification (e.g., grounds maintenance) preferred
- Minimum 1 year experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or park maintenance
- Valid New York State Driver's License with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions
- Strong commitment to public service and community engagement
- Basic knowledge of horticulture, turf management, or recreational facility operations
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams
