Responsibilities
- Receive and respond to incoming inquiries from taxpayers via phone, email, and in-person visits in a professional and timely manner.
- Assist customers with the preparation and filing of tax forms, including Form IT-201 and Form IT-203.
- Perform data entry and verification of taxpayer information within the state tax processing system.
- Research and resolve complex tax issues by referencing official tax codes and regulations.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of all customer interactions and transactions.
- Collaborate with the tax compliance team to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Stay updated on changes in state tax laws and policies to provide accurate guidance.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of customer service experience, preferably in a government or financial services setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic computer navigation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex topics clearly.
- Ability to work part-time hours, including some evenings or weekends as required by departmental needs.
- Must pass a background check and obtain necessary security clearance.
- Experience with tax software or CRM systems is a plus.
