Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze network traffic for suspicious activities and potential security breaches.
- Implement and maintain security controls in accordance with Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA) requirements.
- Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify system weaknesses.
- Document incidents, response procedures, and security configurations in the SIEM system.
- Collaborate with federal partners to ensure seamless information sharing and incident response coordination.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior staff members on security protocols.
- Stay updated on emerging cyber threats and adjust defense strategies accordingly.
Qualifications
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen eligible for a federal security clearance.
- Education: Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Certification: CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification is strongly desired.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in network security, firewall management, or incident response.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in analyzing log files, using SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar), and understanding TCP/IP protocols.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Availability: Ability to work a flexible part-time schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends if required for system maintenance.
