Responsibilities
- Process and verify pension enrollment forms, retirement applications, and benefit adjustments
- Calculate pension payouts using specialized financial software and actuarial tables
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding retirement eligibility, contribution schedules, and distribution options
- Maintain accurate pension records and ensure compliance with California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) regulations
- Collaborate with auditors during annual pension plan reviews and compliance audits
- Prepare monthly reports on pension fund activity and demographic trends
- Assist in developing educational materials for pre-retirement seminars
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Public Administration (Bachelor's preferred)
- 2+ years of experience with pension plans, retirement benefits, or financial record-keeping
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and pension administration software (e.g., CalPERS systems)
- Strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS regulations, and California pension laws
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to mathematical accuracy
- Certified Pension Administrator (CPA) or SHRM-CP designation highly desirable
- Ability to handle confidential data with discretion and professionalism
