Responsibilities
- Receive, prioritize, and dispatch emergency/non-emergency calls for police, fire, and EMS services
- Operate multi-channel radio systems, telephones, and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software
- Maintain precise records of all communications using digital logging systems
- Provide clear, concise instructions to callers during critical incidents
- Coordinate with multiple agencies during complex emergency scenarios
- Adhere to strict protocols for sensitive information handling
- Participate in continuous training to refine emergency response skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- Ability to remain calm and decisive under extreme pressure
- Exceptional verbal communication and active listening skills
- Proficient in multitasking with strong attention to detail
- Basic computer literacy and typing proficiency (40+ WPM preferred)
- Must pass comprehensive background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- U.S. citizenship and Virginia residency required
