Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, assess situation urgency, and dispatch appropriate resources
- Operate Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems and radio communications equipment
- Maintain detailed logs of calls, incidents, and officer activities per department protocols
- Provide clear, concise information to first responders during critical incidents
- Perform data entry and administrative tasks with accuracy and confidentiality
- Participate in ongoing training to master emergency procedures and communication standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college coursework in criminal justice preferred)
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with high accuracy
- Ability to remain calm and think clearly during high-stress emergency situations
- Strong multitasking skills with ability to prioritize multiple simultaneous tasks
- Proficient in using computer systems and learning new technology quickly
- Excellent verbal communication skills with clear diction in English
- Valid California driver's license and clean driving record
