Responsibilities
- Operate X-ray machines, walk-through metal detectors, and explosive trace detection systems to screen passengers and carry-on baggage
- Conduct thorough pat-down searches and physical inspections of individuals and property as required
- Monitor security checkpoints and identify potential threats through behavioral observation techniques
- Enforce TSA security protocols while maintaining professional demeanor under high-pressure situations
- Collaborate with law enforcement and airport personnel to resolve security incidents
- Document screening activities and maintain accurate security reports
- Provide clear instructions to travelers regarding security procedures and prohibited items
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain TSA security clearance
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Ability to pass extensive background investigation and drug screening
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional during stressful interactions
- Basic computer literacy for operating screening equipment and documentation systems
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
