Responsibilities
- Actuarial Management: Conduct actuarial valuations and prepare reports to assess the financial health of the State Pension Plan, ensuring compliance with funding mandates.
- Benefit Administration: Calculate and process pension benefits, including retirement, survivor, and disability benefits for eligible retirees and beneficiaries.
- Compliance & Reporting: Monitor changes in state and federal laws regarding pension plans and ensure all internal processes remain compliant.
- Data Analysis: Analyze complex pension data to identify trends, resolve discrepancies, and optimize fund performance.
- Stakeholder Communication: Provide clear and accurate information to retirees, employees, and internal stakeholders regarding plan rules and benefit inquiries.
- System Maintenance: Work with IT teams to maintain and upgrade pension administration software systems.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pension administration, actuarial consulting, or retirement plan management.
- Certifications: Candidates must be pursuing or have achieved professional designations such as ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) or FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (advanced functions), and experience with actuarial software (e.g., Milliman, Mercer, or proprietary state systems).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act) and state-specific pension laws.
