Responsibilities
- Manage pension plan operations including benefit calculations, record maintenance, and participant communications
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and Colorado state pension statutes
- Process retirement applications, distributions, and life events with meticulous accuracy
- Generate regulatory reports and financial statements for oversight agencies
- Collaborate with HR departments to resolve complex pension-related inquiries
- Conduct periodic audits of pension data to maintain fiduciary standards
- Stay current with legislative changes affecting public sector retirement systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, or related field
- Minimum 3 years' experience in pension/benefits administration or retirement planning
- Deep knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(a) requirements, and Colorado PERA regulations
- Proficiency in pension administration software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Certifications (QKA, CEBS, or similar) strongly preferred
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to financial detail
- Clear communication abilities for explaining complex retirement concepts
