Responsibilities
- Administer retirement plans for 1,200+ municipal employees ensuring compliance with ERISA, IRS, and CalPERS regulations
- Process monthly pension contributions, distributions, and member account reconciliations
- Prepare annual actuarial valuations and financial statements for the Board of Trustees
- Develop and maintain participant communications including retirement workshops and benefit statements
- Collaborate with auditors during annual compliance reviews and special examinations
- Manage pension fund investments and vendor relationships for administrative services
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of pension administration experience with public sector or defined benefit plans
- Proficiency with pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, PSRS)
- Strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(a) regulations, and California pension laws
- CPA, CFA, or SPHR certification preferred
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to financial detail
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism
