Responsibilities
- Manage complex pension plan operations including member enrollment, benefit calculations, and retirement processing
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations (ERISA, VRS policies) and conduct regular audits
- Develop and implement strategic plan enhancements to improve member experience and fund efficiency
- Analyze financial data and prepare comprehensive reports for stakeholders and regulatory bodies
- Collaborate with investment teams to align pension strategies with long-term fund objectives
- Provide expert guidance to public employers and members regarding retirement eligibility and benefits
- Lead process improvement initiatives to streamline administration and reduce operational costs
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of pension plan administration experience with public sector funds
- Deep knowledge of ERISA, IRS regulations, and Virginia retirement statutes
- Advanced proficiency in pension administration software and data analysis tools
- Strong quantitative skills with ability to interpret complex financial models
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and policy development
- Proven project management experience implementing system or process changes
- Professional designation (ASPPA, CFA, CPA) highly desirable
