- Administer city pension plans in strict compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and California state laws
- Process retirement applications and benefit calculations with meticulous accuracy
- Conduct comprehensive audits of pension records and financial statements
- Develop educational materials and provide guidance to employees on retirement planning
- Collaborate with investment advisors to monitor fund performance and risk management
- Manage participant communications and resolve inquiries within established service level agreements
- Stay current on evolving pension legislation through continuous professional development
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in pension plan administration or benefits management
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or Certified Retirement Administrator (CRA) designation preferred
- Expertise in ERISA, IRS Code 401(a), and California pension regulations
- Advanced proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Albridge)
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to complex financial calculations
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities for stakeholder interactions
