Responsibilities
- Administer defined benefit pension plans for 2,000+ city employees and retirees
- Process retirement applications, benefit calculations, and survivor claims
- Ensure compliance with federal/state regulations (ERISA, IRS, CalPERS)
- Conduct annual valuations and financial reporting for pension funds
- Develop and implement plan amendments with legal counsel
- Respond to employee/retiree inquiries regarding pension benefits
- Collaborate with auditors and investment committees
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of pension plan administration experience
- Strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(a) regulations, and CA pension laws
- Advanced proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Parnassus)
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or similar designation preferred
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with public sector retirement systems highly valued
