Responsibilities
- Administer retirement plans for 2,000+ municipal employees, processing enrollments, distributions, and benefit calculations
- Ensure strict compliance with federal ERISA regulations, IRS codes, and Nebraska state pension statutes
- Oversee $500M+ pension fund investments, collaborating with financial advisors and auditors
- Develop and implement benefit education programs for employees nearing retirement
- Prepare comprehensive annual reports for City Council and regulatory bodies
- Manage pension system software upgrades and data integrity protocols
- Respond to complex member inquiries regarding retirement eligibility and options
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of pension plan administration or retirement benefits experience
- SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or CEBS certification preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Prologic)
- Deep knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(k)/403(b) regulations, and Nebraska pension laws
- Experience with public sector retirement systems and multi-employer plans
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to financial detail
- Strong written/verbal communication skills for member education and reporting
