Responsibilities
- Administer daily pension payment processing and disbursement for 5,000+ retirees
- Manage member account updates, benefit calculations, and retirement documentation
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and California pension laws
- Provide expert guidance to state employees on pension options and retirement planning
- Analyze pension fund data to identify trends and recommend process improvements
- Collaborate with investment and actuarial teams on fund performance metrics
- Maintain accurate records in CalPERS pension management system
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of pension administration or retirement benefits experience
- Certified Pension Administrator (CPA) or CEBS designation preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and pension management software
- Deep understanding of ERISA, IRS 401(k) regulations, and CA state laws
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to financial details
- Strong communication skills for explaining complex pension concepts
