Responsibilities
- Administer municipal pension plans ensuring compliance with ERISA, IRS, and CalPERS regulations
- Process retiree applications, benefit calculations, and distribution schedules
- Conduct annual valuations and funding analyses for multi-million dollar pension portfolios
- Develop comprehensive reports for actuarial reviews and city council presentations
- Coordinate with external auditors and legal counsel for compliance audits
- Manage participant communications regarding plan changes and retirement options
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of pension administration or retirement plan management experience
- Professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA, or ASPPA) strongly preferred
- Expertise in ERISA, IRS 401(a), and California pension regulations
- Advanced proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Empower)
- Experience with municipal pension fund accounting and reporting
