Responsibilities
- Administer and optimize defined-benefit pension plans for 2,500+ municipal employees
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and Texas state pension laws
- Conduct actuarial valuations and financial modeling for plan sustainability
- Manage participant communications, enrollment, and retirement counseling
- Oversee investment portfolio performance reporting and risk assessment
- Collaborate with auditors and legal teams for annual compliance reviews
- Develop retirement plan educational materials for diverse employee groups
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Public Administration (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of pension administration or benefits management experience
- SPBC or ASPPA certification strongly preferred
- Proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Neptune)
- Deep knowledge of ERISA, 401(a), and Texas Municipal Retirement System rules
- Advanced Excel skills and financial modeling capabilities
- Exceptional communication skills for complex benefit explanations
- Government/public sector experience required
