Responsibilities
- Administer county pension plans including defined benefit and 401(a) programs
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and California pension laws
- Process retiree benefit applications and conduct eligibility verifications
- Analyze actuarial reports and recommend plan adjustments to the Finance Committee
- Develop educational materials for employees regarding retirement planning
- Collaborate with auditors during annual compliance reviews
- Manage pension fund investments and distribution schedules
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of pension administration or benefits management experience
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation
- Advanced knowledge of ERISA, IRS Code 401(a), and California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS)
- Proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Workday, PeopleSoft)
- Strong analytical skills with attention to regulatory compliance
- Excellent communication abilities for stakeholder presentations
- Government or public sector experience preferred
