Responsibilities
- Administer and oversee multi-employer pension plans in strict compliance with ERISA, IRS, and Texas state regulations
- Process pension applications, calculate benefits, and maintain accurate participant records
- Conduct periodic plan audits and financial stress tests to ensure long-term solvency
- Develop and implement strategic investment policies aligned with risk tolerance and fiduciary standards
- Collaborate with legal, HR, and finance teams to resolve complex benefit inquiries
- Prepare regulatory filings and comprehensive reports for city council and oversight committees
- Lead participant education initiatives on retirement planning and benefit options
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of pension administration experience with public sector plans
- Deep knowledge of pension regulations (ERISA, IRC 401(a), Texas Pension Code)
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in pension software (e.g., Millennium, Empower)
- Certified Pension Administrator (CPA) or QKA designation required
- Experience with defined benefit and defined contribution plan structures
- Exceptional communication skills for explaining complex concepts to diverse audiences
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a regulated environment
