Responsibilities
- Administer defined benefit pension plans in strict accordance with ORS regulations and federal guidelines
- Process retirement applications, benefit calculations, and payment distributions accurately
- Conduct regular compliance audits and implement corrective actions for discrepancies
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all pension-related transactions
- Collaborate with payroll and HR teams to ensure seamless employee benefit transitions
- Respond to employee and retiree inquiries regarding pension benefits and eligibility
- Prepare annual reports for county commissioners and ORS oversight committees
- Stay updated on legislative changes affecting public sector retirement systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in pension plan administration or benefits management
- Certified Pension Administrator (CPA) or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) preferred
- Expert knowledge of Ohio Retirement Systems (ORS) and ERISA regulations
- Advanced proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Benefitfocus, PeopleSoft)
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in financial calculations
- Excellent communication abilities for explaining complex benefits to diverse audiences
- Experience with government procurement and compliance documentation
