Responsibilities
- Administer defined benefit pension plans for city employees, ensuring accurate calculations and distributions
- Monitor compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and California pension laws
- Prepare annual actuarial valuations and financial reports for pension fund trustees
- Respond to participant inquiries regarding retirement benefits, contribution limits, and vesting schedules
- Collaborate with investment advisors to align pension assets with long-term growth strategies
- Conduct periodic audits of pension records and payment processes
- Develop educational materials for employees on retirement planning options
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of pension plan administration or benefits management experience
- Strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(k)/403(b) regulations, and California PERS guidelines
- Proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Albridge)
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to financial detail
- Ability to interpret complex legal documents and communicate policies clearly
- Government/public sector experience preferred
- Series 65 or 66 investment license a plus
