Responsibilities
- Process and verify pension enrollment forms, retirement applications, and beneficiary designations
- Calculate pension benefits using specialized actuarial software and municipal regulations
- Respond to member inquiries regarding pension eligibility, payment schedules, and policy changes
- Maintain accurate pension records and ensure compliance with California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) guidelines
- Prepare monthly pension payment reports and reconcile financial transactions
- Assist in annual pension audits and regulatory compliance reviews
- Collaborate with HR departments on member terminations, leaves, and disability cases
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 0-2 years of experience in pension administration, benefits, or public finance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to interpret complex pension regulations and policies
- Basic understanding of retirement plan structures and fiduciary responsibilities
- Valid California Driver's License (may be required for occasional off-site meetings)
